Thea Cadabra does not design shoes for the timid; you need to possess a certain confidence and a definite sense of style to carry them off. Inspired by Ziggy Stardust era David Bowie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and vintage glamor, her creations incorporate both humor and drama. She manages to fit all that into her gorgeous little pieces of wearable sculpture while never sacrificing elegance and femininity.

Thea Cadabra began designing shoes in London in the mid 1970s, and quickly carved a place for herself in the London fashion world. In 1979 her “All Weather” shoe had taken first prize in the Craft Council Shoe Show, and she soon earned both critical and commercial acclaim for her unique designs.
Shoe enthusiasts will be familiar with her Maid pump from 1980, with its cleverly sculpted heel. Irresistibly seductive….

Ms Cadabra stopped designing shoe collections under her own name in the early 1980s when she went to work for Charles Jourdan in France. Every once in a while one of her eponymous designs shows up at auction, but of course you need lots of money – not to mention luck from the shoe gods in terms of sizing – to get your hands on a pair.

Fabulously enough, she recently decided to reissue some of her original shoe designs on a made to order basis. They will be available in early 2010, and you can get all the details about this through her website.

love those rocket/cadillac shoes. I would so wear them.
